HARDIK PANDYA CHANTS ECHO THROUGH WANKHEDE STADIUM, TWO MONTHS AFTER HE WAS BOOED AT SAME VENUE: WATCH

India are currently basking in the glory of winning the T20 World Cup 2024, as they finally ended their 11-year long wait for an ICC trophy. This was the second time that they lifted the trophy after 2007, after a thrilling final at Barbados against South Africa. One of the heroes of the final, and throughout the tournament for India was Hardik Pandya. This has been a great redemption story for Pandya, who was booed mercilessly during his time in the IPL. This was visible in Mumbai as well where India will land for a victory parade

India will travel from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium in an open-air bus. After reaching the stadium, they will partake in an elaborate ceremony at the iconic stadium. The crowds have already filled up the stadium for the celebrations. There were loud chants across the venue, and at one point of time there were 'Hardik, Hardik' chants ringing across the stadium. The fans were obviously lauding one of the best players in the T20 World Cup.

This was the same venue, where two months ago in the IPL 2024, the crowd were booing for Pandya when he replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. This is perhaps one of the greatest redemption stories in cricket.

Watch the moment right here:

After India won the T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik Pandya, who bowled the last over of the final, was extremely emotional, as he was seen crying profusely. At one point of time, captain Rohit Sharma landed a kiss on the cheek of the star all-rounder.

"I believe in grace. A lot was said by people who don't know even know me one percent as a person. People have spoken, no issues but I have always believed in life that you never respond with words, circumstances can respond. It is time for fans and everyone else to learn that (to be graceful). We need to find better ways to conduct yourself. I am sure the same people will be happy," Pandya said to Star Sports after the final.

Hardik Pandya scored 144 runs and picked up 11 wickets for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. In the final he picked up 3 wickets, including the crucial scalp of Heinrich Klaasen. After the splendid tournament that he had, Hardik Pandya became the first Indian to become the no.1 ranked T20I all-rounder in history.
