JASPRIT BUMRAH RETIREMENT FROM T20IS: INDIA PACER REVEALS FUTURE PLANS DURING FELICITATION CEREMONY AT WANKHEDE STADIUM

Mumbai: Is Jasprit Bumrah already planning retirement from T20Is after having won the World Cup recently? The premier India pacer was asked this question during the felicitation at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday evening. Initially, he was taken aback but then Bumrah confirmed that he does not have any such plans and also said that it is 'long way away' at the moment.

"It is a long way away. I have just started. Hopefully, it is far away now," Bumrah said during the grand ceremony.

Bumrah's effort with the ball also helped him pick up the Player of the Series. He was economical, giving away a surreal 4.17. He also picked up crucial wickets for the side during crunch situations to change the tide of games.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old pacer shared glimpses from the meeting with PM Modi, posting pictures on his social media. Bumrah's wife, Sanjana Ganesan, who also served as a broadcaster for ICC during the T20 World Cup 2024, was also present. In a heartwarming moment, Modi posed alongside Bumrah, Sanjana, and their son Angad Bumrah. The Prime Minister playfully held the little boy in his hands as they posed together for the photograph.

During the felicitation ceremony, Virat Kohli lavished praise on Bumrah as well.

"Like everyone in the stadium here, we also felt at one point if it is going to slip away again, but what happened in those last five overs was truly, truly special. You know what I'd like everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back into games again and again and again in this tournament. What he did in those last five overs, bowling two out of the last five overs, it was phenomenal. A huge round of applause for Jasprit Bumrah, please. We are lucky that he plays for us," Kohli told a packed Wankhede after Team India's open bus parade in Mumbai.
