NEW DELHI: Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his admiration for the Indian cricket team on Thursday. The team was honored at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium upon their return from the West Indies, where they emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup final last Saturday.

Using the social media platform X, the renowned actor conveyed his congratulations to the triumphant squad, captained by Rohit Sharma.

Shah Rukh shared that witnessing the young men bring home the coveted trophy filled his heart with immense pride. He encouraged the 'invincible' team to celebrate their achievement by dancing throughout the night.

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, arrived in India on Thursday morning. Following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital, they proceeded to Mumbai. The team was greeted with a roadshow along Marine Drive before being honored at the Wankhede Stadium.

Shah Rukh wrote on X, "Seeing the boys so happy and emotional fills my heart with pride... As Indians this is such an amazing moment - to see our boys take us to such great heights!!! After an 11-year wait, India finally tasted ICC trophy success last Saturday, clinching the T20 World Cup title in Barbados. In a thrilling final, they overcame South Africa by a narrow margin of 7 runs.

This triumph marked the end of a long drought for the Indian team, with their last ICC trophy coming in the form of the Champions Trophy back in 2013, under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
