ORDER AMIDST CELEBRATORY CHAOS: TEAM INDIA FANS MAKE WAY FOR AMBULANCE DESPITE MARINE DRIVE FRENZY AHEAD OF T20WC CELEBRATIONS

Team India are slated to commemorate their historic ICC T20 World Cup 2024 victory in the Caribbean with an open-top parade followed by a felicitation ceremony in Mumbai on Thursday, following their return to home soil after being stranded in Barbados for a couple of days due to inclement weather.

Fans in the Maximum City took to the streets in the thousands as they flocked to the roads to witness the triumphant side hoist the trophy high up from the bus before moving to the Wankhede stadium for the felicitation ceremony.

The streets of Mumbai were flooded with fans clad in blue as the scenic Marine Drive turned into a cauldron of people conglomerating ahead of the impending celebrations.

However, there was a moment of humanity amidst the chaos as the sea of people made way for an ambulance to pass despite the euphoria.

India clinched the trophy at the Kensington Oval on Saturday with a 7-run win over debutant finalists South Africa as Rohit Shara and Co. put up a total of 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets thanks to Virat Kohli’s 76 runs knock, before limiting the Proteas to 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets as Jasprit Bumrah weaved his magic with the ball.

Star batters Rohit, Kohli and maverick all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who have served the nation incredibly well throughout their long and illustrious careers, decided to hang up their boots in the shortest format of the game following the triumph.

India became the first team to win the T20WC unbeaten throughout the tournament and bagged their second ICC crown in the shortest format of the game.

The victory also brought an end to the 11-year title drought Indian had to endure as they went over a decade without a piece of silverware after the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy victory.

India also reset the timer on their ICC title wins as their previous WC crown came on home soil in 2011 in the ODI World Cup, and the one prior to that was the 2007 T20 WC triumph as India clinched the inaugural edition of the T20 over extravaganza.
