SURESH RAINA REQUESTS BCCI FOR MS DHONI STYLE TRIBUTE TO RETIRED VIRAT KOHLI AND ROHIT SHARMA
Veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma got a fitting farewell as they ended their T20I careers with the T20 World Cup title. Kohli and Rohit were two of the best to play the T20I format, ending as the top two leading run scorers in the format, with over 4000 runs. Rohit was a beast and scored five centuries in the format, the joint most in T20Is along with Glenn Maxwell. Meanwhile, Kohli was mighty consistent and helped India win big games.
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina made a special request to BCCI after Virat and Rohit's retirement and asked the board to retire jersey numbers 18 (Kohli) and 45 (Rohit) as tribute to the veterans. Raina cited MS Dhoni's example while making the request. Notably, jersey no 7 was retired after Dhoni's exit.
"I request the BCCI to retire jerseys No.18 and No.45. They need to have a special occasion where they keep these jersey numbers in their office. The number 7 is already retired, they should do the same for 18 and 45. Every person who sees the number should get motivated. The numbers 18 and 45 have won India games from so many situations that whichever player comes into the team, they should feel motivated by just looking at these numbers," Raina said on Jio Cinema.
