Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the victorious Indian cricket team, winners of the T20 World Cup 2024 at his residence on Thursday in Delhi. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team secured the championship with a win over South Africa in the final. However, Indian cricket experienced mixed emotions as soon after the triumph as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20I cricket.

Nevertheless, the celebrations were grand for the team, who arrived in New Delhi early Thursday morning after facing delays in Barbados due to inclement weather. Upon their arrival, the Indian cricket squad visited PM Modi's residence, where they spent time until 1 PM. During the gathering, the cricketers engaged in a candid discussion with PM Modi. Among them was Suryakumar Yadav, the standout batsman, whose seven-year-old social media post on X (Twitter) has regained attention as the nation commemorates their triumph.

BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a special 'NAMO' India jersey during their visit to 7, Kalyan Marg.

The Indian team, along with head coach Rahul Dravid, had a meeting with PM Modi. They also displayed the T20 World Cup trophy to the Prime Minister.

After their lively interaction with PM Modi, the Indian team departed for Mumbai, where the BCCI organized a 1 km celebratory procession from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium. At the stadium, the players were felicitated in front of a packed Mumbai crowd.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who attended the final against South Africa in Barbados last Saturday, awarded the Rs 125 crore cash prize to the Indian team for securing their first ICC trophy in more than ten years.
