TASKIN AHMED OVERSLEPT ON DAY OF CLASH AGAINST INDIA, HENCE MISSED MATCH AGAINST ROHIT SHARMA-LED SIDE: REPORT

A top official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the team's vice-captain and pacer, Taskin Ahmed, missed the T20 World Cup clash against India due to oversleeping and not responding to calls. As per a report in Cricbuzz, a Bangladesh cricket official revealed, on condition of anonymity, that Taskin was unreachable before the game but later apologized to the team.

In the match against India, Bangladesh fielded only two pacers, excluding Taskin from the playing XI. This decision raised eyebrows and led to speculation that Taskin was dropped by the head coach.

"It is true that he (Taskin) joined the team later after missing the team bus," an official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"But why he did not play only the coach can say because whether he was in the plan or not (against India) is something that can be answered by the head coach (Chandika Hathurusingha)," he said.

However, the BCB official clarified that there were no issues between Taskin and the coach, urging not to create unnecessary controversy.

"If there was any issue (between coach and the player) how he played the next game against Afghanistan," he said.

"He apologised to his teammates and everyone for not being able to get up on time and that's it and no need to make an issue out of it," he added.

India secured a dominant victory over Bangladesh by 50 runs in Antigua. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh failed to qualify for the semifinals, while India went on to win the tournament by defeating South Africa in the final.
