India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, shared encouraging words with India star batter Virat Kohli to pursue the only remaining trophy missing from his collection: the World Test Championship (WTC). Virat Kohli concluded his T20I career in a fairytale fashion by announcing his retirement after India's T20 World Cup 2024 victory over South Africa by seven runs at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29 (Saturday). 

Following India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados, the International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a special video on Instagram, showcasing the Indian team's celebrations in the dressing room.

In the video, captain Rohit Sharma enters the dressing room with BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Jay Shah. The players then take turns posing with the coveted trophy. Kohli, with a broad smile, is seen kissing the silverware for a memorable photograph. After the photo session, Kohli gives a high-five to Dravid, who delivers a special message to the star batter.

Dravid encourages Kohli to aim for the only missing trophy in his collection, the World Test Championship, saying, “All three white ticked off, one red to go, tick it,” in the viral video.

Kohli's Quest To Win WTC

Kohli came close to winning the World Test Championship on two occasions, in 2021 and 2023, but India lost in the final both times, to New Zealand and Australia, respectively. Now that he has retired from T20Is, Kohli will focus on ODIs and Tests in the later days of his career, determined to secure the only remaining trophy missing from his collection.

In the final match, Kohli played a pivotal innings, scoring 76 runs off 59 deliveries, rescuing the Indian team from a precarious position. His performance was crucial in leading India to their second T20 World Cup title, ending a 13-year World Cup trophy drought. Kohli's efforts earned him the Player of the Match award.
