VADA PAV FOR ROHIT, CHOLE BHATURE FOR VIRAT! WHAT TEAM INDIA ATE FOR BREAKFAST AFTER LANDING IN DELHI: REPORT

India are currently basking in glory after they defeated South Africa in the final to finally end their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought and win the T20 World Cup 2024. This is the second time after 2007 that the Men in Blue lifted the trophy. The team finally landed in New Delhi on the morning of July 4 in New Delhi after being stranded in Barbados for a number of days. Before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the team had a quick stopover at the ITC Maurya Hotel in New Delhi. There the players were served a pretty special breakfast.

According to a report by Times Food, the chefs at ITC Maurya had prepared a lavish spread for Team India. Each player had a jar in their room which consisted of pistachio, naan khatai, cinammon sugar palmier, charioli, paprika cheese twist, sundried tomato and amarnath pinwheel and chocolate truffle rolls.

The report also states that the hotel had prepared special Mumbai style Vada Pav for Rohit Sharma, and also Delhi's authentic Chole Bhature for Virat Kohli. The breakfast also included fresh locally sourced fruits like mango and blackberry.

There was also a special cake that was prepared in honour of the T20 World Cup 2024 champions. The cake was in the colour of the team jersey, with a T20 World Cup trophy replica made out of chocolate on top.

“The cake is in the colour of the Team's jersey. Its highlight is this trophy, it may look like an actual trophy but this is made out of chocolate...This is our welcome to the winning team...We have arranged the breakfast in the special venue and we will offer them a special breakfast," ITC Maurya chef Shivneet Pahoja told news agency ANI.

The India team were stranded in Barbados after the T20 World Cup final win against South Africa, as the airports and flights were closed down due to the tropical thunderstorm Beryl that lashed out at the island nation. After landing in India, the team first took some rest, and then proceeded to have an interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. The team have now boarded a flight to Mumbai where they will have a parade on an open bus from Marine Drive to the Wankhede Stadium This will be followed by an elaborate ceremony at the stadium.
