WATCH: ROHIT SHARMA'S PRICELESS REACTION AS MOTHER HUGS AND KISSES HIM AFTER VICTORY PARADE IN MUMBAI

Rohit Sharma’s mother Poornima had a doctor’s appointment on Thursday but she didn’t want to miss her son leading Indian cricket team’s victory parade and in Mumbai and hence skipped to attend the event. She was beaming with pride as Rohit and co took a lap of the Wankhede Stadium as they celebrated Team India’s victorious campaign at the recent T20 World Cup.

Later, a video went viral on social media showing Poornima planting kisses on Rohit’s forehead.

Poornima revealed that Rohit had already decided to quit T20Is even before the world cup got underway.

“I have never thought I would see this day,” Poornima told The Indian Express. “Before going to the World Cup, he had come to meet us and said that he wanted to quit T20Is after this. I just said try to win. I was not feeling well today and had a doctor’s appointment, but I still came as I wanted to see this day.”

“I can’t express my happiness. Look at the cheering. I have never experienced this kind of atmosphere. The amount of love he is getting is because of his hard work and dedication. I’m the happiest mother today,” she added.

Besides Rohit, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have also announced retirements from T20Is.

The victory parade was attended by thousands of fans even though it was delayed by a couple of hours. Cricket lovers waited for hours and even rain didn’t dampen their mood to catch a glimpse of the world champions.

After the parade, the players were felicitated by the BCCI at the iconic Wankhede Stadium and were presented with a financial reward of Rs 125 crore which will be distributed between players, members of support staff and selectors.

The event was also attended by BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah.
