AUSTRIAN GP CARNAGE: LANDO NORRIS AND MAX VERSTAPPEN LOSE THEIR HEAD AS GEORGE RUSSELL SNEAKS WIN

George Russell has emerged victorious in the Austrian Grand Prix 2024 after absolute carnage ensued in the last few laps which saw a fiery exchange between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen lose their heads at Austrian Grand Prix

Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen was leading the team's home Grand Prix entering into the final 10 laps of the race but was receiving some serious challenge by McLaren's Lando Norris as they both kept going back and forth swapping postions.

But as it turned out in the 64th lap of the race, things got a bit spicy between the race leader and the challenger. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris were engulfed in absolute elbows out edge of the seat racing and given the intensity and not wanting to give an inch to each other this was always going to happen.

First as Lando Norris attacked Max Verstappen, the Dutchman forced him wide as both cars went off track with initial contact. Then as the Briton tried to attack on the inside line, Verstappen rammed the door shut and forced Norris onto the grass.

Norris then once again came back on the outside of Max Verstappen and this team both Red Bull and Papaya couldn't avoid contact as the Championship leader picked up a puncture and Norris was forced to retire.

There will be much debating on who was at fault but no one can deny that both drivers were clumsy in their fight and race craft which cost them both podium and massive points.

George Russell sneaks victory at Austrian Grand Prix 2024

As they say, someone's loss is someone's gain and that is exactly what happened at Austrian GP.

As Lando Norris and Max Verstappen both fell down the pecking order after their head loss, Mercedes and George Russell were there to pick up the scraps and registered another win in Formula 1.

It wasn't all bad for McLaren as Oscar Piastri came home in P2 to secure a Podium and Carlos Sainz completed the Podium as he placed his Ferrar at P3.
