SHIVAM DUBE OUT, YASHASVI JAISWAL OR SANJU SAMSON IN? INDIA'S LIKELY PLAYING XI FOR T20 WORLD CUP 2024 FINAL

After getting the better of England by 68 runs in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Guyana on Thursday (June 27), India will face South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup on Saturday (June 29). The summit clash is scheduled to take place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. India and South Africa have reached the final with a 100% win record in the tournament, and one of them will become the first team in T20 World Cup history to win the title with a 100% win record.

India has won four out of six T20 World Cup matches played so far against the Proteas and will back themselves to win again on Saturday and end the 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. For the T20 World Cup 2024 final, India could consider making one change in the playing XI and including Yashasvi Jaiswal or Sanju Samson in place of Shivam Dube.

Dube hasn’t bowled in a single match for India and has struggled to score big runs as well. He was dismissed for a golden duck in the semifinal against England on Saturday after coming out to bat at No. 7 for the Men in Blue.

If India opts to go ahead with Jaiswal, then the 22-year-old left-handed batter can be seen opening the innings along with captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli will move back to his usual No. 3 position. Kohli has failed to fire for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 as opener, and a move back to his preferred position might do wonders for the star batter.

Another option is to hand the T20 World Cup debut to Sanju Samson, who can bat in the middle order and score runs at a quick pace. The Kerala-based cricketer was in red-hot form for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024, because of which he was preferred over KL Rahul for a place in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Ravindra Jadeja has only picked up one wicket in seven matches for India, but he is almost certain to retain his place in the playing XI along with the star spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

Mohammed Siraj played in the Group A matches, which were staged in the United States of America, and he is also unlikely to be part of the playing XI in the final.
