'YOU’VE DAZZLED US ALL': LEGENDARY SACHIN TENDULKAR CONGRATULATES RAVINDRA JADEJA ON AN INCREDIBLE T20I CAREER

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar reserved huge praise for Ravindra Jadeja and wished him all the best after he retired from T20 Internationals. The ace all-rounder called it quits in the shortest format of the game on Sunday, joining his teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. One of the world’s finest fielders, Jadeja said he will continue to play ODIs and Tests.

Tendulkar congratulated Jadeja on a remarkable T20I career via Instagram post. The Indian legend also highlighted the latter’s growth from a rising talent to one of the finest all-rounders in the world.

“Your transformation from an emerging talent in the latter stages of my career to an all-format veteran has been remarkable. Whether it’s your lightning-fast fielding, game-changing spells, or crucial knocks, you’ve dazzled us all. Congratulations on an incredible T20I career! Wishing you the best in the longer formats,” Tendulkar’s post read.

Replying to the former cricketer’s heartwarming note, Jadeja commented, “Thanks a lot paji. Means a lot.”

A day after Rohit and Kohli moved away from the T20Is with the coveted World Cup trophy in hand, Jadeja followed their footsteps, quite expectedly.

Finding replacements for these three match-winners in the playing eleven is bound to take time. But the transition phase will start as early as next week when a second-string Indian team faces Zimbabwe in five T20Is from July 6.

Hardik Pandya, who has been rested from the series, is expected to succeed Rohit as the T20I skipper and will be tracking the progress of the fringe players during his well-deserved break.

Jadeja’s retirement, on the other hand, elevates Axar Patel as the leading spin-bowling all-rounder in the Indian team.

It would be fair to say that Axar has already performed that role in the World Cup as he was used as a floater in the middle order and, at times, was given the tough task of bowling in the powerplay.

His 47 off 31 balls in the final against SA allowed India to recover from a poor powerplay. He had also produced a man-of-the-match performance in the semi-final against England.
