‘WELL PLAYED BOYS, GOOD NIGHT IN LAWS’: YUVRAJ SINGH’S CHEEKY TWEET AFTER INDIA’S SEMIFINAL WIN OVER ENGLAND GOES VIRAL

IND vs ENG, 2024 T20 World Cup: Ex-India cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is also the ambassador of the ongoing tournament posted a hilarious tweet on his official X account after the Men in Blue thrashed England in the semifinal. Yuvraj took to his official X account and congratulated the Indian team and took a subtle dig at England and wished them “Good night in-laws”. Yuvraj got married to Hazel Keech, who is a British actress and model and that is how Yuvraj relates to England. But at the same time, he was ecstatic with India’s victory as they eliminated England and qualified for the summit clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup.  

 

The Rohit Sharma-led side took their sweet revenge for the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal loss after defeating England in Guyana on Thursday. The semifinal clash turned out to be a semifinal affair as the Men in Blue completely dominated both with the bat and ball.

India’s memorable win in semifinal 

 

While batting first, the Indian batting lineup rose to the occasion and posted a respectable target of 171 runs. Rohit Sharma led India’s batting lineup as he scored a match-winning knock of 57 runs off 39 balls and then Suryakumar Yadav tried to stabilize the innings by scoring a gritty knock of 47 runs. Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel also made significant contributions with the bat.  

 

The Jos Buttler-led side suffered a batting collapse as the Indian spin duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets apiece and helped the team skittle England out for 103 runs.  

 

Rohit admitted that the semifinal victory was satisfying and that the whole team had worked hard for this.  

 

"Very satisfying to win this game. We worked hard as a unit. To win this game like that was a great effort from everybody. We adapted to the conditions well. The conditions were a little challenging, we had to adapt and that's been the success story for us so far till this game," Rohit told reporters in the post-match press conference.  

 

"We have adapted to the conditions well, played the conditions well. The bowlers and the batters, if they play according to the conditions, things fall in place and that's exactly what happened for us today. Very pleasing to see how we got through this game”, he further said.  

 

India will lock horns with South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29, Saturday.
