Yesterday’s T20 World Cup Match Results, IND vs ENG: Looking to end their ICC trophy drought, India beat defending champions England by 68 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Semifinal 2 played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. India, after being put in to bat, posted a respectable 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs but England, unable to forge any partnerships at all, were bowled out for a paltry 103 as their title defence came to an end.

The game between Jos Buttler and Rohit Sharma's sides was the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup, and India are now in the finals, all set to face South Africa in the showdown on Saturday, June 29 in Barbados, in what will be a clash between two unbeaten sides.

India captain Rohit Sharma and spinner Kuldeep Yadav were the top performers for India in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup. While Rohit scored 57 runs off 39 deliveries, Kuldeep bowled a brilliant spell to restrict the England batters.

Rohit, who had scored a 41-ball 92 against Australia on Monday, was the top run scorer for India on Thursday (June 27). He faced a total of 39 deliveries and with the help of six fours and two sixes, scored 57 runs. He built a match-winning 73-run partnership, along with Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 47 runs from 36 deliveries (four boundaries and two sixes).

For England, Harry Brook scored 25 runs from 19 deliveries, but that was nowhere enough to help England chase down the 172-run target.

Top wicket-takers

England pacer Chris Jordan, besides India spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, were the highest wicket-takers in the match, all finishing with three wickets apiece. Jordan dismissed Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube for a golden duck and Axar, to finish with figures of 3-0-37-3.

Kuldeep, on the other hand, got the better of Brook, Sam Curran and Jordan, to finish with figures of 4-0-19-3.
