JASPRIT BUMRAH LEFT HANGING AS UMPIRE 'IGNORES' HIS HANDSHAKE AFTER INDIA BEAT ENGLAND | WATCH

Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets as India hammered defending champions England by 68 runs in Guyana on Thursday to set up a T20 World Cup final showdown against South Africa. It was the second wicket that ended the game and left Bumrah hanging.

After trapping Jofra Archer LBW with an in-swinging yorker, India players began their celebrations, shaking hands with each other as the english batter took the DRS. Bumrah too went up to the umpire to shake hands, like his teamamtes but was offered his cap back. When he tried again, he was left hanging. Once the signal came for the third umpire that it indeed was a dismissal, the players went off to end the game. it is certain if Bumrah did manage to get his handshake as the cameras zoomed away.

England, who beat India by 10 wickets in the 2022 semi-finals, collapsed to 103 all out chasing 172 for victory, with spinners Kuldeep Yadav (3-19) and Axar Patel (3-23) sharing six wickets between them.

Earlier, India posted 171-7 in a rain-interrupted innings after losing the toss with captain Rohit Sharma making 57 — his third fifty of the tournament — and Suryakumar Yadav 47.

Rohit Shamra was a happy man after the win, as he hsaid:”Very satisfying to win this game. We worked really hard as a unit. To win this game like that was a great effort from everyone. We adapted to the conditions really well. It was a challenge and we adapted. We played the conditions really well.”

South Africa overwhelmed Afghanistan by nine wickets in the first semi-final on Wednesday to book their place in Saturday’s final in Barbados.

Both India and South Africa have yet to lose a match at this tournament.

India will be bidding for their first major title since winning the 2013 Champions Trophy, having lost on home soil to Australia in last year’s 50-over World Cup final.
