RAVINDRA JADEJA RESPONDS TO PM NARENDRA MODI FOR HIS WISHES AFTER T20I RETIREMENT

Ravindra Jadeja became the third Indian player who quit T20I cricket after the Men in Blue won the 2024 T20 World Cup. The star all-rounder made the announcement a day after India lifted the trophy. Jadeja took to Instagram to share his retirement post and wrote: “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals."

"Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats . Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support," he added.

Soon after Jadeja announced his retirement, PM Narendra Modi took to X to send his wishes to the all-rounder. "Dear @imjadeja, You have performed exceptionally as an all-rounder. Cricket lovers admire your stylish stroke play, spin and superb fielding. Thank you for the enthralling T20 performances over the years. My best wishes for your endeavours ahead," Modi wrote. Jadeja responded to Modi's post and thanked him for his wishes. "Thanks a lot sir," Jadeja wrote.

Jadeja didn't have a memorable run in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He only managed 35 runs and one wicket in 8 games in the ICC event. With Axar Patel excelling on batting and bowling front, Jadeja could have lost his spot in the T20I team going ahead.

He was out of the T20I team from 2017 to 2019. He became a regular member of T20Is after his return and played in the 2021 and 2024 T20 World Cups. He missed the 2022 T20 WC due to a knee injury. Jadeja finished his T20I career with 515 runs and 54 wickets from 74 T20Is. He made his T20I debut in 2009.
